Recording, only with your consent.

LawyerSOS is maintained by the LawyerSOS team. This page describes the recording controls that are live in the product today.

Why we offer recording

Recording a consultation gives you a verbatim record of the legal advice you received. If you ever need to act on it, refer back to it, or rely on it in a dispute, the recording — and our chain-of-custody log — supports your case.

What is captured

Audio and video of the consultation. We do not record device screens, files on your phone, your location, or anything outside the call window. We do not transcribe or analyse recordings for advertising — ever.

What is never recorded

Browsing the app, the AI assistant, your evidence vault contents, in-app chat with your solicitor, billing screens, or any time before consent is given and after the call ends. Background app activity is never captured.

How recordings are stored

Recordings are encrypted at rest (AES-256) in a private storage bucket inside the European Economic Area. They are accessible only to you, your assigned solicitor, and — on a strict need-to-know basis — to LawyerSOS support staff investigating an issue you reported.

Chain of custody

Every view, download, and access of a recording is logged in our audit trail with timestamps and reference IDs. If a recording is ever needed as evidence, that audit trail comes with it.

Retention

Recordings are retained for up to 7 years to support legal admissibility — the standard limitation period for most civil claims. You can ask us to delete a recording sooner from your vault at any time.

How to ask for deletion

Delete a recording yourself from the evidence vault on the relevant case, or email privacy@lawyersos.app from the address on your account. We will action the request within 30 days and confirm in writing.
